“Elite Commando Survival provides activity days to primary schools. Each activity day is delivered by a former Royal Marine and we focus on building resilience, promoting bravery, team building, improving problem solving skills, raising self-esteem and self-discipline.
The business was founded in June 2016. We started out with 2 members of staff but we have grown quite significantly over the last 2 years and are now 14 strong. Prior to working with Sprint Education we were working with around 90 primary schools.”
“Before we started working with Sprint Education we were generating new business by attending Head Teacher conferences, primarily in the Gloucestershire area. We were also going onto local school websites and finding contact details there in order to do our own email campaigns, and both of these methods proved pretty successful in terms of building relationships with schools in Gloucestershire.
On a national basis, before GDPR came into effect, we were buying data - albeit not overly accurate data - and we were doing email campaigns to perhaps 10,000 schools with varying degrees of success. We came to Sprint Education because we realised that we needed the assistance of a specialist agency in order to upscale the business, and we knew that with GDPR we couldn’t continue to do our marketing the way we had been previously.”
12-MONTH MANAGED EMAIL STRATEGY
“Initially we were a bit nervous about working with Sprint Education. I came in for a meeting with John about a year before we finally gave him the go ahead, and at the time it just felt like a big investment for such a young company.
So, over the course of the next 12 months we went away and improved our internal processes, grew our customer base, and after a year it felt like the right time to come back to John. We wanted to do the 12 month fully-managed strategy because I’d been really impressed by every conversation I’d had with John and the team, and I wanted them to basically become my marketing department for the year so I could focus on other areas of the business.”
John, Sprint’s Campaign Manager says…
“What Elite Commando Survival offers to schools is unique and of tremendous value. We therefore realised straight away that, rather than overcomplicate Grant’s marketing, the key was to distil the messaging down to the core benefits in terms of improvement to pupil behaviour, resilience, and self-esteem – all issues we know that are uppermost in teachers’ minds right now.
The subject lines and email headers were focused around the opportunity to have Royal Marines visit the teacher’s school (something we knew would instantly grab their attention), and then the emails outlined the positive outcomes of an Activity Day as succinctly as possible. The result was open rates nearly double the industry average and an instant surge of enquiries for Grant and his team.”
“I’m very, very happy that we made the decision to work with Sprint Education. Our target before we began working with Sprint Education was to generate 50 new bookings for Activity Days during the course of the year. However, we are now 5 months into the strategy and we are drastically increasing that target and making it more ambitious because we’ve seen just how successful the campaigns have been.
In the first 5 months the Sprint campaigns have generated around 400 enquiries which is incredible. We have already converted 37 of these, which is worth about £33,000 to us; but I’m confident of converting at least another 30, which would mean the value of the campaigns so far would be more like £60,000.
Since working with Sprint we are 100% more excited about the future of Elite Commando Survival. I’m now confident that we’re working with the very best education marketing agency and one that puts my business in front of the people that it needs to be in front of.
In all honesty I couldn’t be more chuffed with how it’s going. Katie and Nick in the design and copywriting team have been fantastic and I’m just excited to see what the next 7 months will bring – and then the following year too!”
