As Head of Communications here at Sprint, my days are filled with building expert edu-marketing campaigns, dishing out subject line advice like hotcakes, and crafting the perfect social media statuses for selling-to-school success on the go.

But, in my own school days, I didn’t proclaim my love of English and ask about jobs where I could correct grammar for a living. I did love English, but my favourite academic subject was maths, and I spent three years as a software engineer before mingling on over to Sprint.

But I don’t consider my techy days to be a mistake at all. You need a ton of creativity when crafting customer journeys, marketing materials, and conversion funnels. But to really boost your conversion rates and get as many teachers as possible flowing through your conversion funnel faster than white-water rapids, you need a whole lot of maths, science, and formulas for instant success.

Statistically, then, if an average email has 75 words, and I’ve written over a thousand edu-marketing emails, I should have been through around 10% of the dictionary by now. But I haven’t, and it’s not a fail – far from it.
